Happy New Year!!

//via//
I'm not sure what it is about this year that makes it different then say last year, but in my mind, for the first time ever I am really excited as to what this year may bring. And not just for our family, but for the world. I can honestly feel an awakening happening in many areas of life, from how people view health, family,employment, politics, etc. The only newspaper I subscribe to ( which is run by a 'political atheist' and doesn't side with one particular party) is the Trends Journal, and the editor just sent out his forecast for what this year will bring. It's both good and bad ( like every year) but he notes how much potential there is for things to change on a massive scale.

We have been focusing each year on one word to represent what our family wants to achieve/do/be. This year, it's simplify. In every respect of my life, I want things to be simplified. To begin this, we're getting rid of things we really don't need/want and are pretending we may end up one day residing in a tiny house that has limited shelving space...and if that ever became our living quarters ( and I am one to spend hours looking at tiny homes) we better have isolated what we really need and want versus a bunch of junk that takes up space or is useless.

Other than simplifying things, I've got some personal goals I have been working out while doing Leonie Dawson's amazing 2014 workbooks ( I cannot rave enough about them!!!). I feel just writing down and analysing my feelings, goals, and dreams I've taken a step in the right direction. Normally I just think about what I would like to accomplish and let it go, perhaps I feel it isn't realistic or I don't want to hold myself responsible for when something needs to be done. That's changed now that I have everything down on paper that I want to achieve this year.

Some of my goals include:

+ Waking up early everyday and going to bed at around 9-10PM most nights

+ Spending less time pinning interesting articles and more time reading what I've pinned
 ( anyone else do this?? Pin recipes/articles you never get to reading?)

+ Complete yoga teacher training!!

+ Have pro camera skills

I'm currently shooting in manual, which is fantastic and a HUGE step for me. Nonetheless it takes a lot more than that to understand how to play with light and composition, so I still have a long way to go. Bonnie has been an incredible mentor and I look forward to working with her again this year!

+ Master Thai cooking
this will be a fun one...who is coming over for dinner?

+ Have a home management/life binder that is impressive in its organizational scope
(...because right now if I print any organizational thingy it ends up on the floor and the cat throws up on it...)

What are some of your goals this year?
